What is Roanoke 7 Summits?

This is a unique event that combines our regions premier trails with an active living awareness program.

The “Roanoke 7 Summits” is a fun play-off of the international mountaineering challenge of climbing each of the seven continents highest mountains.  By taking this challenge you’ll hike to the summit of seven of the Roanoke Region’s top mountain summits in a seven week span.  It demands a great attitude, determination, exploration and will challenge you push your hiking skills to new levels.

New this year! Streamlined registration. Visit our Registration Page by clicking on the "Register" button on the top right corner of any page and explore the options. There is a general program registration with or without a t-shirt as well as guided hikes offered by the City of Roanoke Parks and Recreation on Thursdays and Saturdays. This is no longer a package deal. You must register for each hike individually. This will allow participants the option to do the program split between guided and self-led. Visit the activities page for additional hikes through the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club as well as hiking and backpacking focused events sponsored by Walkabout Outfitter. This year we have added more events through Walkabout Outfitter to help you get geared up and informed on what to expect on the trails. Mill Mountain's hike is also changed from last year, so be sure to visit the Mill Mountain page for more information. Explore the maps, pack your daypack, and sign up to conquer Roanoke's 7 Summits!
